MCADA Outreach/Prevention Educator

Our agency is growing and we are looking for a self-directed member of our team that has strong communication skills and can assist us with reaching our new strategic goals and objectives as we strengthen our commitment to the Mercer County community.

This is a full time position with the agency and competitive benefits are provided. Access to training and/or support to get scholarships due to the nonprofit status. Stipend for maintaining expertise is provided.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Organize agency outreach events, manage staff and volunteer member participation, and create promotional materials both online and in the community to create publicity.
  • Create electronic documentation for standard operating procedures for recurring outreach activities. Assist other staff members with creating their SOP with making the documention consistent among all outreach activities to improve efficiency.
  • When needed provide back up to other members of the prevention team and facilitat/co-facilitate evidenced based substance abuse prevention programs throughout Mercer County.
  • Responsible for following the design of classroom materials, pre/post tests, teacher packets and follow-up.
  • Maintains knowledge and develops expertise of existing prevention resources and services.
  • Interprets needs, programs and services to agencies, groups and individuals involved.
  • Prepares programmatic and statistical reports and disseminates information.
  • Assists in researching and writing proposals to obtain government or private funding for projects designed to meet needs of the community.
  • Create content to engage Mercer County residents with our webpage and social media.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA or BS) in public health, communication, journalism, psychology, social work, or education.
  • Pass background check and fingerprinting
  • Confidence with using social media, blogging, Microsoft Software, Youtube, Google Workspace, and public speaking

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bilingual candidates will be preferred (Spanish, Polish, Hindi, Urdu, Arabic, French). ● Media specialist, CPS, SAC, teaching certificate desirable.
  • Bicultural and all gender candidates are encouraged to apply.
  • Knowledge of Mercer County resources and providers is helpful.
