2021 Team at ASYSST is Ready For The First Day of School
Our ASYSST (Available School Youth Support Services Team) has changed and is ready to assist the students at Ewing High this school year. We welcome our new Program Director, Dan Winter, our new Mental Health Clinician, Carly Scanlon, and our returning Developmental Specialist, Shakita Johnson. They are excited and have a lot of great things planned for the 2021-2022 school year.
Carly Scanlon is a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). She received her graduate degree in Clinical Mental Health & Counseling from The College of New Jersey. Carly is a mental health clinician at ASYSST, housed at Ewing High School. She provides a safe, warm, and supportive environment for all. Carly uses a person-centered approach in her sessions and borrows from different schools of therapy based on each individual's needs. In her free time, Carly enjoys taking her three dogs on hikes, practicing yoga, and cooking new recipes!
Shakita Johnson has been with ASYSST since 2018. She is a graduate from The College of New Jersey with a degree in Business. Shakita is the youth developmental specialist at ASYSST, housed at Ewing High School. She has been working with school based youth since 2013. Her passion is helping others. Before her current position, she was an education specialist at Mercer County Community College. She has taught life skills and has helped high school seniors in the Mercer County area transition from high school to post-secondary education.
