Mercer Council Announces Staff Changes October 1st
I've had a long and fulfilling career in prevention over the past 29 years. Starting out as a part time prevention educator teaching a primary prevention program known as BABES for young children using puppets and storytelling when my own children were very young. Prevention Science was still a fairly "young" field, evolving very quickly with new research into evidence-based practices and programs. Completing my Certified Prevention Specialist credential gave me the skills I needed including grant writing, program and coalition development, evaluation and sustainability, prevention ethics as well as cultural competency. The wonderful people I met along my career path were not only my mentors, but many became my friends, and those are relationships I will always treasure. The staff at Mercer Council that I have worked with over the past 11 years have been among the most professional and talented people I know, and I am forever grateful for the opportunity to have worked with them.
October 1st I will be transitioning to part time employment and stepping back from my full time role as Assistant Executive Director and Prevention Coalition Coordinator. I will continue as a part time prevention educator and assisting with projects until the end of December, handing over my coalition responsibilities to Malissa Arnold, who will assume the position of Prevention Coalition Coordinator. I know the coalition will continue to thrive and grow with her passion and support. I am pleased to announce that Ruth DelPino, who was the Mercer County grant program manager, will assume Malissa's role as Drug Free Communities Program Manager. Please help me congratulate these two amazing women in their new roles!
Thank you to all, the past 29 years have been such a blessing!

Congratulations to you, Barb! You took me under your wing after bringing me into the Mercer Council family. I am grateful to know you and to have worked alongside you for the past 7.5 years. Wishing you all the best as you move into this next chapter, enjoying your family, especially little Arthur, and exploring hobbies, new and old! You will always have a special place in Mercer Council's heart.
